Pikachu didn’t just know pika-pikà
Pikachu fans are familiar with Pikachu’s unique “pika-pikà” line that hasn’t changed over the years, just like Marvel’s “I am Groot”. But this time Pikachu has evolved to a new level, becoming the only Pokémon who can speak human language, but unfortunately only Mr. Tim Goodman understands what Pikachu said. Anyway, just one person is enough to make Pikachu all alone – like the way this guy himself said.
The film revolves around the story of Tim Goodman – son of Harry Goodman and he is a partner of Pikachu for many years. Tim accidentally met Pikachu when he came to his father’s apartment to clean up after a tragic car accident. From there, the pair resolved to investigate Harry’s death.
Pokémon: Detective Pikachu is adapted from the famous Pokémon cartoon series. So the script is quite simple and easy to understand for those who have never watched any episode of this series. Almost every character in the movie will introduce each type of Pokémon and their power whenever a new Pokémon appears. So the audience will easily grasp their skills and predict the situations that will happen next.
The first half of the movie proceeds quite slowly and lacks focus, but the later the rhythm of the film is pushed higher and brings more interesting details to the audience. For those of you who are familiar with movies, it is undoubtedly the first villain of the movie. So the first twist is completely unexpected, and the second twist is a bit better but it’s understandable if you recall the skill of the strongest Pokémon in history.
This time, Pikachu is not as innocent and cute as the animated versions, instead he has a very humorous personality, a bit plump and quite muddy. Therefore, most laughter of the audience in the movie is brought by Pikachu. But because the film is labeled 13+, the comedy elements are minimized.
The only weakness of Pokémon: Detective Pikachu is that the movie content is still quite confused, the details connected are not really smooth. So the movie will have a few situations that make the audience laugh out of excessive absurdity, such as the foot running speed equal to the free running speed. However, because Pikachu is too cute, these situations are easily overlooked by the audience.
Actors and actors
Taking on the main role of Tim Goodman in the film, young actor Justice Smith still has not taken advantage of this opportunity when acting has not really made an impression on the audience, instead Pikachu occupies the entire spotlight. Perhaps Justice needs to hone more acting skills to be able to take on such heavy roles in the future.
Deadpool – Ryan Reynolds is trusted to voice the task of Pikachu. There is no such thing as showing off his filth like he did in Deadpool, but he still brings a particularly funny Pikachu with great dialogue. Moreover, this movie will make the audience “oh” interesting. So if you don’t know his real face after Daedpool’s makeup, make sure to search for “pictures” on the internet first.
Sound, images and effects
The Pokémon series in the movie is very beautiful, lively and true as the pets in front of the audience. Especially when Pikachu is meticulously sculpted to every detail and extremely sharp, the audience will surely only want to touch that soft fur.
Sound part of Pokémon: Detective Pikachu is also handled well with Pokémon fighting scenes, excellent voice-over. As a result, the movie became more and more interesting and interesting.
